After Mirka’s SHAPE Launch ̶ Highlights and Insights
The launch event for SHAPE was a big success and afterwards, we got the opportunity to have a conversation with Mats Sundell, R&D Director at Mirka, who shared his highlights and insights from the event.
On June 1st, Mirka hosted the long-awaited SHAPE launch event at Epicenter in Helsinki. Co-hosted by Maria Smeds-Engström (Mirka) and Markku Heino (Spinverse), the occasion gained significant attention with an impressive turnout of more than 100 participants, both physically present and engaged online.
Mats Sundell, R&D Director at Mirka, commenced the event and is happy for the overwhelming success of the launch.
̶ It was a real joy to see so many of our friends and partners in the same room, eagerly discussing what we can do together to make the future of manufacturing more sustainable.
Mats Sundell, R&D director at Mirka, commenced the event and introduced the SHAPE ecosystem to the audience.
The SHAPE ecosystem, driven by collaboration and knowledge-sharing across various sectors, empowers partners to emerge as front runners in the rapidly expanding remanufacturing industry. In order to be successful in this endeavor, Mats Sundell emphasizes the importance of bringing together people from different backgrounds around the selected themes for SHAPE.
He firmly believes that after introducing SHAPE, Mirka will witness a number of joint projects taking form in the near future.
̶ The strength of our SHAPE project is in the ecosystem that we are collecting. Manufacturing and surface finishing are up for big changes, and there is no company that can deliver all the solutions needed alone. However, together we can, he asserts.
“Those who play their cards right in the green transition will have the opportunity to grow their business and take a prominent market share.”
Beyond introducing the SHAPE ecosystem, the launch event also served as an opportunity for Mirka to make a statement in the manufacturing industry, advocating for the need to reshape the life cycles of products and materials.
Mirka’s SHAPE launch event was attended by more than 100 participants, engaged both on-site and online.
Mats, who participated in the World Circular Economy Forum right before the SHAPE launch, shares his most profound insight from these two events — which is the enormous business opportunity embedded in the green transition.
̶ Of course there are challenges, but we have to recognize that we are faced with the most significant business opportunity of our lifetime. Value chains will undergo profound transformations and redistributions, new products and processes will emerge, and our unique selling propositions (USPs) will need to evolve, Mats explains.
Rather than fixating solely on the risks confronting the manufacturing industry, greater attention should be directed toward the opportunities.
̶ Those who play their cards right in the green transition will have the opportunity to grow their business and take a prominent market share, he adds.
