Mirka’s €25 M Investment in Jakobstad
Mirka is investing 25 million euros in a new production line in Jakobstad, Finland. The manufacturing line is based on technology that could transform the entire abrasives industry in the coming years.
The proprietary production technology, already in commercial operation in Jeppo and Jakobstad, enables the complete elimination of chemicals such as formaldehyde from manufacturing. The investment also allows for raw material optimization and waste minimization.
The Jakobstad investment will total 25 million euros, covering the new production line, upcoming processing lines, and a technical upgrade of Mirka's facility in Jakobstad. The production line, expected to be operational in early 2027, is anticipated to create around 40 new jobs when fully operational.
‘This investment is a significant part of Mirka's sustainability efforts and commitment to innovative technology. We now see our vision for development and growth beginning to take shape on an industrial scale,’ says Stefan Sjöberg, CEO at Mirka.
